Mosaics took over downtown Cambridge during the second annual multi-site exhibit, “Pieces of the Path: Exploring the Art of the Mosaic” in August and September. The exhibit showcased works by nine Eastern Shore mosaic artists along a “mosaic path” that encompassed five art galleries and several outdoor sites, including the large-scale mixed mosaic-and-paint mural currently created by local artists on the side of the Hunt Insurance building on Race Street.

“Pieces of the Path: Exploring the Art of the Mosaic” follows in the footsteps of an enormously successful exhibit presented a year ago. This second edition is even more extensive, with work featured at 10 different sites.

Participating artists in the Mosaic Path were: Parran Collery, Carol Gordean, Anna Grace Harding, Deborah Coffin Kennedy, Joyce Fritz Ritz, Mary Ann Schindler, Susan Stockman, Craigie Succop, and Jen Wagner.

The exhibit was anchored at the Main Street Gallery (413 Muir St.), where dozens of mosaics were on display, ranging from small vases to musical instruments to tables to large wall mosaics.

Artist Invitational (July 2009)

Artists from around the Eastern Shore were invited to submit work for this invitational mixed media exhibit. See the fascinating range of what they submitted.
