Meet Cambridge Main Street's Board of Directors

Cambridge Main Street board members are selected by a vote of the membership at the annual Cambridge Main Street meeting in June.

Chad Malkus is a local attorney with Hodes, Pessin & Katz, P.A., one of

Maryland's largest law firms. Following his graduation from Cambridge-

South Dorchester High School,  Chad received his B.A. from Clemson

University in South Carolina, and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore

School of Law.

 

In addition to his role as Vice President of Cambridge Main Street and

chair of the Design Committee, he is on the Board of Directors of the

Maryland Alzheimer's Association, the Board of Directors for the

Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce, the Dorchester Advisory

Board for Hebron Savings Bank, the Board of Directors of Sailwinds Park,

Inc., the Dorchester Hospital Foundation, the Core Steering Committee

for Habitat for Humanity of Dorchester County,and the Choptank Heritage

Trail Initiative.  He oversaw the restoration of the historic

Cator House, located at 411 Muse Street in the heart of Main Street's

historic district, now a professional building that houses his office in the
HP&K law firm and other office space to serve the Main Street community.

 

 

 

Chad's involvement with Main Street stems from his appreciation of

architecture, his desire to revitalize downtown Cambridge, and his love

of the Eastern Shore.

 

 

He lives in Cambridge with his wife Steffanie, owner of Sugar Magnolia

Consignment Boutique, and he enjoys spending time with their two sons,

Lachlan Michael ("Lake") and Fynn.

Born and raised in Dorchester County, Maryland,  Mr. Jarmon graduated from Mace’s Lane High School, Cambridge, in 1961. Mr. Jarmon received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bowie State College and a master’s degree in Administration Supervision at Bowie State University. From 1966 – 1969 he taught seventh and eighth grade Social Studies and Science at North Dorchester Junior High School. In 2003 he retired from the Prince George’s County, Maryland Public Schools System. He's spent 38 years as an educator: classroom teacher, instructional resource assistant, vice principal and principal. Member and actively involved in Social Studies organizations, committee chairs, and as delegate at conferences and conventions: Prince George’s County Council (President, Secretary-Treasurer), Middle States Council (Secretary and Vice President Elect), Maryland Council (BOD), and National Council.


Since returning to Dorchester County, he's served on the following: Preservation and restoration of Old Field Vaughn Chapel in Church Creek, Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad History Discussion Network, Underground Railroad Byway Advisory Committee, Sojourner-Douglass College as part time teacher, Dorchester County NAACP as Secretary, Mace’s Lane High School Alumni Association as Vice President, and Heritage Day Committee.

 Dave Harp
Dave Harp

Chair, Economic Restructuring Committee

 

A lifelong Marylander, Dave Harp operates a corporate and editorial photography business from Cambridge. He is a 1969 graduate of Ohio University, with a degree in English literature.  He served as the staff photographer for the Hagerstown Morning Herald and was the photographer for The Baltimore Sun Magazine for nearly a decade before establishing his own business in 1990. He is a past president of the American Society of Media Photographers. His latest book, a collaboration with environmental writer Tom Horton, is about the Nanticoke River.

Harvey Davis

Harvey spent more than 35 years with the State of Maryland, last serving as statewide director of field operations for the Division of Rehabilitation Services, where he worked with business leaders and organizations. After retiring in 2005, he worked briefly with ISG International in Cambridge and served as director of the Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce.

   
Phil Feldman

A Cambridge native, Phil graduated from the University of Maryland and went on to found insurance company ISG in Cambridge in 1977. He sold ISG in 2007 to the world’s fourth largest insurance broker, Arthur J. Gallagher. Now, as Area Chairman of ISG division, he manages growth strategies. He also owns and manages SeQure Underwriters, a reinsurance company that he founded in 1999. Both operations are housed at 204 Cedar Street, the Harbor Building. In addition to the above duties, he and his wife Marlene own and manage the Harbor Building.

 

 
 Fred Findlen
Fred Findlen

Fred started his career as a Corporate Management Trainee back in 1985 after graduating Cum Laude from the Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration from the University of Massachusetts and Amherst.

 

Fred worked his way up through the various jobs in the Rooms Division throughout his career.  Stops have included Assistant Front Office Manager at the Hyatt Orlando for two years; Assistant Front Office Manager (opening team), Front Desk Manager and Assistant Executive Housekeeper at the Grand Hyatt Washington for three years, Executive Housekeeper at the Hyatt Regency Washington for two years; Executive Assistant Manager-Rooms at Hyatt’s Five Diamond Grand Cypress for two years.

  

Fred first moved to Puerto Rico as Assistant General Manager at the Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club in 1994, and then worked at the Hyatt Regency Cerromar for three years as an Assistant General Manager. 

  

Fred left Puerto Rico in early 2000 to become General Manager of the Hyatt Key West Resort in Florida where he became a Board Member of the Key West Hotel/Motel Association and member of the Key West Chamber of Commerce. He also was working on a committee to bring a chapter of the Skal Club to Key West.

  

When the opportunity arose to become General Manager of the Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club, Fred returned to Puerto Rico in November 2001. While the General Manager in Puerto Rico, Fred served on the Board of Directors, Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association, Legislation Committee, Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association, Board of Directors, Jane Stern Dorado Community Library and Board of Directors, Fundacion de Besas para Hoteleric y Turismo.

  

Most recently, Fred moved to Cambridge in his current position as General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina. He currently serves on the Board of Directors, Cambridge Mainstreet and Board of Directors, Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce.

 Brett Summers
Brett Summers

Brett is the founding partner of NOVO Development Corporation, a real estate development company based in Washington, D.C.  NOVO acquires, renovates/rehabilitates, and manages multi-family properties in the following markets: Cambridge, Chicago, Charleston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.  Prior to 2000, Brett worked with CB Richard Ellis and the Trammell Crow Companies as a commercial real estate broker negotiating lease transactions for commercial office space in the Northern Virginia market.  Brett received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Public Policy Studies from Duke University in 1985.  Brett is a trustee at The Country School where he serves on their Buildings and Grounds committee and as Chair of the Cougar Fund committee.  Brett also serves on the board of directors for Cambridge Main Street where he is actively involved in their revitalization efforts.  He and his wife Jamie, three children, and two dogs live in beautiful Cambridge.
