FROM BARBECUE TO BREAD, NEW BUSINESSES COMING TO DOWNTOWN CAMBRIDGE

Nose 2 TailDowntown Cambridge will be adding some bold new flavors this fall. At least four new businesses plan to open downtown in the months ahead:

• Nose 2 Tail, a barbecue restaurant and butchershop at 433 Race Street.

• Elliott's Baking Company, next door at 429 Race Street, with coffee, baked goods, and more.

• Now open! As Time Goes By, with antiques and collectibles, at 400 Race Street.

• Now open! Maggie's Hatbox with antiques, collectibles, decorative arts, and eclectic treasures at 510 Poplar St.

• Now open! Choptank Charlie's Emporium is offering tuxedo and wedding suit rentals plus an array home decor, collectibles, and artworks at 516 Poplar Street.

Nose 2 Tail is a new venture for Patrick Fanning, chef at the High Spot, and Brett Summers, who has restored both buildings. Nose 2 Tail will be a BBQ restaurant/charcuterie with house-cured meats and such dishes as Carolina-style baby back and country ribs and brisket and Eastern Shore-style chicken. They'll be featuring sauces from Crabi Gras. There will also be a butcher shop focused mostly on pork. Keep up with the news by liking Nose 2 Tail on Facebook.

Elliott's Baking CompanyNext door will be Elliott's Baking Company. You've probably already seen their baked goods around—owners Mark and Bernie Elliott have been sharing their desserts and culinary goodies at the Cambridge Main Street Farmers Market each Thursday, at festivals, and on the dessert menu at the High Spot. Look for everything from artisan bread, desserts, gourmet coffees. They'll also be serving a quick breakfast and a light lunch.  Join Elliott's Baking Company on Facebook. Both businesses are looking forward to a fall opening!

There's a just-opened antique shop called As Time Goes By, at 400 Race Street. It's operated by Ed Maloney and Charles Szyper. Mr. Maloney owns the building and helped bring Leaky Pete's and the Choptank Cigar Company to town.

Maggie's Hatbox hopes to open in October with antiques, collectibles, decorative arts, and eclectic treasures. Stay tuned for details.

Choptank Charlie's Emporium is now open at 516 Poplar Street. Owned by veteran entrepreneur Jack Helgeson, the Emporium offers tuxedo and wedding suit rentals as well as a mix of home decor items, including window treatments, and locally made jewelry and artworks handpicked by the owner. Welcome, Jack!
