Calendar of Events for Historic Downtown Cambridge, MD

SEPTEMBER 25, 2010 - CHOPTANK HERITAGE SKIPJACK RACES

Watch a race of skipjacks from throughout the Chesapeake Bay, hosted by Cambridge's ambassador skipjack, Nathan of Dorchester. The beautiful Choptank River provides a perfect course for the race, with views from Long Wharf and other locations along its banks. One of only two skipjack races left on the Bay, this is a unique opportunity to view six or more of these traditional vessels in one location. Skipjacks come to the beautiful waterfront in Cambridge to participate in this annual race starting at 10 a.m. Before the race, beginning at 7 a.m., enjoy coffee, pastries, and a close-up look at these historic Chesapeake sailing vessels docked at Snapper's Waterfront Café, 112 Commerce Street. After the race, spend the afternoon in the shops, galleries, restaurants, and museums of Historic Downtown Cambridge, right down the street from the race site.
